Adoption of the climate and energy package, European plan for economic renewal ... a new process has been launched at the heart of the European Union. To find out more and to understand what part biomethane fuel will play in this development, Anne Houtman will provide key information at the European Conference on Biomethane Fuel. This major event on biomethane will take place between the 7th and 9th of September 2009 in Goteborg, Sweden.

The conference will be a unique occasion to learn more about different European perspectives of biogas development and to exchange opinions on that issue with Mrs Houtman. As a Director in the Directorate-General for Energy and Transport of the European Commission, she has been strongly involved in the European energy policies development processes.

How has the European Commission been working on this issue up to now and which impetus has been given? What are the major commitments of the European Commission towards biomethane development? Which are the directives and strategies that will greatly amplify the use of biomethane in Europe? What decisions have been made on regulations regarding natural gas and biomethane? What are the ongoing discussions on these issues? What actions will be taken to increase biogas vehicles fuelled in Europe? Which position will the small and medium sized cities have in this development ? and of course what are the specific issues for the New Member states ?
